Due to increased rates of vandalism, Ipswich City Council has decided that all gates at Ipswich General Cemetery will remain temporarily locked with the exception of the following gate entrances;
- Cooney Street
- Warwick Road (across the road from the Showgrrounds bus stop)
- and the pedestrian access near the Sexton's Hut
The above listed gate entrances will remain open during daylight hours - from sunrise to sunset.
This is a security measure to reduce vandalism in the cemetery and to ensure respect to Ipswich families and local heritage.
